Whenever feelings of loss or sadness arise about something that has ended, consciously shift your thoughts to three good things that the experience provided you.

Keep a daily gratitude journal - write down five things in your life that you are thankful for, as a way to strengthen your focus on the existing good.

Practice 'the joy of memory' - choose one memory each week of a connection or experience that is no longer in your life, and write down the good things that grew from it.
